Every Nigerian has heard it (and many of us have said it): “Next year, I’m buying a car.” Then next year comes, and the car money goes to rent, school fees and an aso ebi you couldn’t say no to.
So, how do you finally turn “next year” into car keys? Well, with GetIT on Piggyvest, and a little help from our friends at Mikano Motors.
GetIT on Piggyvest lets you choose a brand-new car from Mikano Motors in your Piggyvest app and save toward it daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly on a 3-, 6-, 9-, or 12-month plan. Once you complete your savings, we deliver your car to your address.
In this article, you’ll learn how GetIT on Piggyvest works, how much you’ll need to save for a car and how to get started.
What is GetIT on Piggyvest?
GetIT is one of our strict savings plans, and the name says it all: you pick what you want, save for it, and get it. It has everything from bulk foodstuff to a couple’s trip to the Maldives, and the cars live under “Ride Goals.”
Plenty of you were already saving for cars with us. Our co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Joshua Chibueze, said at the launch that “some of our customers already use different Piggyvest wallets to save for cars.” (Isaac Muokwe, for one, saved for his wife’s first car with us.)
And they’re not alone: 12% of Nigerians who save are saving to buy a car. Not everyone can pay for a car in one go — but as Joshua put it, many “can actually afford to pay for it small-small.”
Why did we partner with Mikano Motors?

We’ve all heard the stories: the car someone paid for online that never arrived, or the one bought with a loan that turned out to be unusable. Even a decent foreign-used car (tokunbo) doesn’t always come with a warranty or genuine spare parts.

The cars on GetIT are brand-new Changan and Deepal models from Mikano Motors, from the Changan Eado Elite Sedan to the CS95 SUV. There are electric options too, like the Changan Eado EV and the Deepal G318. And they come with genuine spare parts and a warranty of up to six years or 200,000 km, depending on the model.
Mikano’s National Operations Manager, Syam Abdulkadir, explained why that matters: “So you don’t have to limit yourself to buying used cars or cars without after-sales service just because that’s the only thing you can afford.”
How much do you need to save for a car on GetIT?
Every car on GetIT shows its price, and the app splits it across your plan, so you know what to save each time before you commit.
Take the Changan Eado Elite:

- As of October 2026, it costs ₦31,164,250, but its 12-month plan comes with 5% off, which brings your target down to ₦29,606,038.
- Save monthly (handy if you’re paid at the end of the month), and that’s about ₦2.27 million a month.
- Start on October 12, 2026, and you’d finish saving on October 10, 2027, with your car delivered between October 10 and October 26, 2027. That’s in time for Detty December, with weeks to spare.
Want it sooner? A shorter plan gets you there faster, but you’ll need to save more money. The good news is you can also always use Quick Save on the Piggyvest app to reach your goal faster, regardless of the plan you choose.
You’ll see your GetIT balance grow towards your target in the app. As Ayo Akinola, CEO of PocketApp, said at the launch, “there is something powerful about watching yourself get closer to a goal.”
How to save for a car on GetIT
Ready to pick your ride?
You can start saving for your car in five steps:

- Update your Piggyvest app and log in. New to Piggyvest? You can download the app and create an account in a couple of minutes.
- Tap “Savings,” then tap “GetIT.” You’ll find it under “Strict Savings Plans.”
- Find your car. Scroll to “Ride Goals,” or search for “car.”
- Pick your car and tap “Save for It.” Choose your plan, then choose whether you’ll save daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- Choose how you’ll pay, add your delivery address and tap “Set Delivery.” You can save by bank transfer, from your Flex Naira or from PocketApp, and you’ll agree to the terms on the same screen.
That’s it! Your first save goes out as soon as you subscribe, unless you switch off “Start saving immediately.”
Can you cancel a GetIT plan?
You can cancel a GetIT plan, but it’ll cost you. GetIT on Piggyvest is a strict savings plan, so when you start, you agree to save until you reach your goal.
If you break or cancel your plan early, you’ll pay a 5% fee on the amount you withdraw. Cancelling within 24 hours is free, unless you paid by card or bank transfer. And once you reach your target, you can’t cancel your order.
What if the car’s price changes while you’re saving? Easy! Your target will adjust to the new price, but we’ll notify you in advance.
So, before you tap “Set Delivery,” pick a plan you can stick to.
